What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is the TV show 'South Park'. I have been watching it since college and have seen every single new episode or special when it comes out. I find that comedy to be absolutely hilarious, always relevant to whatever is happening in the world at the time, and I have watched it through all of the major social events in our country since the early 2000s. If I’m ever having a rough day, I go watch an episode or two, and sometimes I even pick up my phone and text a couple of memes to some of my best friends, who also care to indulge in this guilty pleasure.

What did you last binge watch on TV?

'The Masked Singer'! I absolutely love this show. I have watched every episode, and I think it’s fascinating! I love that people from other industries, who may have a hidden talent for singing, are willing to get up and put themselves out there in front of the world. Also, I’m a pretty good judge of voice (if I do say so myself), from my singing days, so sometimes I do actually get the answer right!

You have experienced and seen a lot, what’s your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is that something will happen, and I will no longer get to be as influential as I am now. I fear that then I won't be able to take care of as many patients as I'm currently helping.

What’s your favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing about being a mom is getting to know my children’s hearts and personalities. Each one of them is so different, they all bring something special to the world. I love helping them explore their talents, figure out who they are, and teach them how to love and relate to the world from their hearts.

Personal goals or to do’s? Skydiving, swimming with sharks?

I really need to start traveling internationally! I want to go to every continent, I want to visit as many places as I can all across the world, meet people from everywhere… and definitely experience the food, and the culture of countries all over the world!

When you have alone time, what’s your go-to?

I don’t have alone time! That’s actually not a joke. I can’t think of one moment in the day where I ever have alone time. But I’m OK with that. I’m a multitasker, I thrive on connection, interaction, and I am extremely extroverted. So I don’t really feel like I need alone time. That being said, when I do have alone time, I am usually sleeping.

How do you decompress after a long day?

I love comedy, connecting with friends, especially my powerhouse girlfriends, who always encourage me and build me up. I enjoy spending time with my children, but that is not always a decompressing activity, because they are so young! Nevertheless, I do spend time with them and enjoy them after a long day of work. If I have the luxury of choosing an activity, I love to cook, and play the piano. Truly playing the piano, singing, and making music are the biggest decompressing activities in my life.

What was your 'life changing' moment?

I have had so many life-changing moments. When I look back over my life, it has been a series of life-changing moments, and I am grateful for each one. The single most pivotal day that changed the course of my entire life was the day that music broke my heart. I was involved in a professional show in Indianapolis at the largest venue there, and I was bullied by my coworkers and boss. This day my heart was broken, and I walked away from music as a profession, cold turkey. I canceled my music school auditions, I stopped taking lessons, and through the influence of my dad eventually decided to go be a physician. I regard that moment as a pivotal point in my timeline because that instantaneously changed the trajectory of my entire professional career and life.

Favorite band? Have you seen them live?

Coldplay! And you better believe I have. Coldplay is not only a band that I listen to all the time, but it is the band that I have listened to the longest. I remember listening to some of the earliest albums when I was applying for college, taking the MCAT, studying for med school and studying in residency… I listened to new album releases during all of my labs, and had the opportunity to see them live in Atlanta last year, it was the best show I have ever seen!

What’s your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment in life has been learning how to operate from a place of love. Success, achievements, and excellence are empty and devoid of meaning in my mind if it is not done from a place of love for others. Serving a greater cause than just one’s own personal vanity. Over the last few years, I have worked so hard on learning how to serve others, rather than be self-serving. It’s important to learn how to enter every interaction from a place of love, even if there is a difficult conversation to have. This is something that some people never master, and it requires a level of humility, and maturity that takes bravery to pursue. I don’t think I’m all the way there, of course, I have so much farther to go. But I would say that the work I have done on myself as a person - in the way that I relate to myself, the love that I show myself, and the way that I do that for the other people in the world - is my greatest accomplishment.
